The retired Colonel of the Police, George Edinson Quintero, Secretary of Security in Norte de Santander, in dialogue with La FM indicated that They will be requesting the Ministry of Defense to reinforce security at this point in the department, and counteract the crime of kidnapping in the region.
“The situation we are experiencing in the department due to the increase in kidnappings is regrettable. Quintero referred to the rescue operation of the merchant Álvaro Antonio Páez, in the municipality of Ábrego, where the capture of eight people was also confirmed, including two members of the Police responsible for the kidnapping of the merchant.
On the other hand, the governor of Norte de Santander, William Villamizar, demanded the prompt release of the people who are currently in the power of armed groups so that they return to their families.
