AREQUIPA, Peru – A Girón bus crashed into a house in downtown Santiago de Cuba on Wednesday, causing a collapse that left one person dead.
As reported by journalist Yosmany Mayeta through several publications on FacebookThe incident occurred on Heredia and Peralejo Street in the city of Santiago, resulting in the death of a Cuban mother identified as Yanisleidis Vázquez Quiala.
The vehicle had allegedly lost its brakes and crashed into the old building. Vázquez Quiala died instantly, buried under the rubble, when the bus crashed into the wall.
“We had to dig her out from under the blocks and it was too late to take her to the hospital. She died instantly,” said one of the people present at the scene when interviewed by Mayeta.
The victim was 32 years old, a mother of three small children and had a partner, who survived the accident.
“There are many messages of condolences following this morning’s accident,” the reporter wrote.
