Angelimar Bonifacio, a little 11-year-old girl from Huanca, brought Junín the national crown in the “Niña Perú 2024” contest. After months of preparation on the catwalk, table etiquette, public speaking and more, Angelimar traveled to the city of Cajamarca to face 37 other girls representing different regions of the country. Her confidence and determination led her to be the favorite of the public and the jury, obtaining a great achievement for our region.
“What got a little complicated is the dance, she chose to present the huaylarsh, but she couldn’t do the zapateo. However, thanks to his performance he achieved it and showed our culture, also winning the best cultural costume.”said the regional director of Niña Perú Junín, Margarita Mercado.
Part of Angelimar’s impeccable presentation highlighted his performance in response to the question asked by the jury: “If you had to represent Peru, how would you do it?” his answer being: “I will make my beautiful Peru known through its culture, its geography and its history, with its typical dishes and typical dances such as the marinera and the huaylarsh. Also the Nazca lines and Machu Picchu, which is one of the wonders of the world and, in my beautiful Junín, its cathedral.”
For her part, the mother of the little winner expressed her excitement and pride at her prideful achievement. “It was a process of a lot of work, we accompanied her as parents to prepare her for this contest,” mentioned Isabel Romero.
Getting ready for international competition
After the important achievement, Angelimar will begin his preparation, since in July 2025 he will travel to the Dominican Republic, where the international competition will take place and he will represent Peru.
“I feel very happy, although there were a little nerves, it filled me with emotion to represent my Junín,” expressed Agelimar.
Both she and Margarita Mercado are aiming to bring the international crown and leave Peru on top because, according to what they say, it would be a great achievement for the region in the field of beauty.
Among the prizes that the winner of the national crown of “Niña Perú 2024” obtains is that her city becomes the host of the next edition of the contest; Thus, Huancayo will receive representatives from all over the country in the 2025 edition.
Margarita Mercado announced that they are already organizing every detail of the contest and the dissemination of Huanca culture so that the participants never forget the Incontrastable City. “The team and I are going to continue working hard to be good hosts next year, we want to show our culture, our food, tourist places and everything we can about our beautiful Huancayo,” he pointed out.
