Regarding hydrocarbon spills in the seas, he stated that we cannot say that ships pollute because they want to.
The lawyer and specialist in criminal and environmental law, Giovanni Olmos, referred this Thursday to the environmental problems that arise in our country, indicating that normally, these cases occur due to lack of duty of care or negligence.
Regarding hydrocarbon spills in the seas, he stated that we cannot say that ships pollute because they want to.
“The authorities have to articulate their actions, their administrative regulations with what is established by the international organizations that link the countries so that these situations do not occur,” the jurist recommended.
He urged the Ombudsman’s Office to review its legislation based on collective and diffuse rights so that they can have a more leading role, “I feel that it is more declarative. It does not remain in firm situations and they should have more participation in the protection of natural resources as it happens in other countries”.
