The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Gilmar Mendes, determined this Friday (3) to open an inquiry to investigate federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) for armed persecution. The decision aims to investigate the conduct of the parliamentarian for the use of weapons and fire on the eve of the second round of the presidential elections. The case took place in October 2022, the day before the second round of elections. At the time, Zambelli pulled a gun and chased a man in the Jardins neighborhood of São Paulo. The parliamentarian’s critic was cornered by supporters of the deputy in a snack bar, but was released shortly afterwards. Carla Zambelli failed to comply with a resolution by the Superior Electoral Court that prohibited the transport of weapons on the weekend of the election.
