A few days ago the situation in the house of Colombian soccer player Gilmar Bolívar in Rebolo was in the midst of a tense calm and tranquility.
At home, his father, who is also called Gilmar, indicated that they were very proud of the talented midfielder who has been at FC Karpaty Halych in Ukraine since 2021.
However, that feeling has now been taking different directions, since the tension and fear over the situation between Russia and Ukraine became a reality after the military takeover that has occurred and has the whole world in fear.

Since he was a child, the dream of this 20-year-old from Barranquilla was always to debut as a professional player.
This became a reality a few months ago in the so-called Ukraine today. Country that lives the Russian invasion and that for many has been a declaration of world war.
Before arriving in said territory, he told RCN News that he had no idea about it.
“The truth is I had no idea about Ukraine, what it represented, I had no idea what it was. My employer tells me that there is a possibility of going to the Ukraine, to the city of Lviv (70 km from the border with Poland)… I am even worse off because he had not listened to her. I made the decision to go because the idea was to continue adding, but this time minutes at a professional level”, he said before the current situation.

He added that the cultural shock was not minor, “those who are not right in the head go back, but when one has already experienced certain things and knows what they want, one says, well, I am going to take this as an experience because of all things one can get something positive. I found a totally different city, which, although it has good things, other things like the language and the food also shock you”.

One of those foreigners is Gilmar, who has been sharing different messages through his social networks asking for everything to improve.
«These are moments of great tension, I pray to God that this ends soon, it seems like a nightmare! Thanks to all the people who have communicated with me, I have felt the support! Life and the human being come first, I have nothing to reproach football with, I just want to thank him for bringing me here, God is in control.”
But his return is still unclear:
- “Until now I have not received a call from anyone, neither from the Embassy nor from the Foreign Ministry, any kind of contact… In the club they try to keep me calm because they know that it would not be convenient for me to return home, it is not a secret for anyone that at any moment the war can start, but, in the meantime, everything is uncertain, so the idea is not to anticipate and not make a bad decision,” he told RCN.
And he added that although he does not understand the language, he knows very well that the situation that exists in that territory is not minor, «one feels, human beings are energy, these types of things are perceived, but there is also tranquility on the part of the people in the city I’m in. I am calm here and I have faith that the unexpected will not happen”.
