Gil: UN sides with those who illegally sanction Venezuela

Foreign Minister Gil repudiates Israel's support for "fascist criminals" in Venezuela

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, denounced that the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, “places himself on the side of those who illegally sanction Venezuela”, by avoiding condemning the application of Unilateral Coercive Measures against the country.

“It is an affront to the mandate that the States have given him, all for defending the aggressors of Venezuela,” He expressed on his Telegram channel.

On Thursday, Guterres declared that, “despite the fact that sanctions against Venezuelan state officials did not help the crisis,” he insisted, without knowing the Venezuelan electoral process, that the results of the presidential election of June 28, where President Maduro was the winner, “were lacking transparency.”

Gil said that, instead of showing solidarity with the victims of the blockade and sanctions, the UN Secretary-General is siding with the liars and victimizers, with the fascists who violate rights and ignore the Venezuelan State.

“It is urgent that the Secretary General return to international legality, respect Venezuela and uphold the institutions of the system to which he owes himself,” he said.
