Gibara International Film Festival will be held in August

The 16th Gibara International Film Festival, to be held in that eastern Cuban city from August 2 to 16, will screen a sample of 11 fiction short films from half a dozen countries, seven Cuban and audiovisual films from Argentina, Switzerland, France, Romania, Turkey, Spain and the United States.

The event will honor two great Cuban actors: Mario Balmaseda and Mario Limonta, with the award Lucia of Honorand with the screening of the film In a certain wayby the filmmakers Sara Gómez, Julio García Espinosa, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Tomás González Pérez.

More than 15 countries represented and 45 productions in competition distinguish the call for this edition, which will also honor the work and work of the editor Nelson Rodríguez, who died in 2020.

The Gibara Festival was born two decades ago on the initiative of Cuban director Humberto Solás.
