Despite the advance of crime in the country, the execution of the public budget to address this problem remains slow. Thus, according to the Friendly Consultation portal of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), there are municipalities that have not spent even 50% of what was allocated for order and security.
One of the most critical situations is observed in Ucayali. Here, the progress is only 16.7% of the budget for investment projects. For example, it has more than S/266,000 to create a police station and to date it has not spent a single sol on this work.
Cajamarca is also another department whose local governments do not disburse. The expense barely amounts to 21.2% of the amount allocated for this year, of which S/872,261 is for the adequate improvement of citizen security services in the district of Jaén, but nothing has been spent.
For its part, in Ica the progress is 22%. In this case, a little more than S/18 million has been allocated for the improvement and expansion of the local citizen security service in the municipal observatory of citizen security service and information, however, the expense is 0.9%.
Madre Dios, meanwhile, has executed only 22.7%, with a project to improve and expand the security service in Puerto Maldonado, which will require S/1.9 million, but of which only 5.4% of the total has been invested.
Loreto does not escape the list of executions less than 30%. Local governments have disbursed 29.1% of the total allocated for investment projects. Pasco, for its part, spent 35.7%.
