The monetary transfers to the beneficiaries of the Supérate social subsidy, corresponding to the month of Marchhave been delayed due to the actions implemented as a result of the fraud to which said program has been subjected.
Asked about the complaints of some Supérate members who wonder when they will make the March deposit effective, the director of the Social Subsidies Administrator (Adess), Dignified Reynosoassured that they are working to release the resources soon.
He explained that the delays are due to the security measures that have been adopted to avoid repeating the scams staged in February, when, by means of the card cloning of creditsome 100 million pesos were subtracted, according to preliminary calculations that have been made.
Reynoso highlighted that in the last month complaints about theft of funds from the cards have decreased and highlighted the constant monitoring that they do between all the entities that make up the payment system. He also referred to the greater rigor with the prohibition to authorize consumption at night.
With the February fraud affected some 30,000 beneficiaries of Supérate, a program that provides cash transfers to 1.5 million people. The entity has reported that most of the irregular consumption was carried out in the early hours of the morning, despite the provision that they were not authorized between 10:00 at night and 7:00 in the morning.
The investigations so far have led to the arrest of about ten people, including six colmaderos from the Santo Domingo province to whom a judge ordered coercive measures consisting of preventive detention and economic guarantee.
In addition, the request for measures to four men who were arrested on March 18 in Barahona and to whom the National Police claims to have taken 103 cards from the Supérate program.
The men would be informed of the measures on Thursday, but the hearing was rescheduled for next March 31, so that the defense of the detainees would know the evidentiary documents deposited by the Public Ministry.
