German luxury cruise ship MS Hamburg tours several provinces of Cuba

MADRID, Spain.- The German luxury cruise ship MS Hamburg arrived this week at the port of Antilla, in the province of Holguín, after visiting Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.

The boat, operated by the Hapag Lloyd company, arrived with around 350 tourists on board who “were received to the rhythm of the conga,” according to official media reports.

The director of the Cubatur agency in Holguín, Ricardo Rojas Mastrapa, told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that among the excursions planned for travelers are a tour of the Taíno Village and the Chorro de Maíta Site Museum, the most famous aboriginal cemetery in the eastern part of the country located on Cerro de Yaguajay, and a visit to the house of a farmer, a tobacco factory and a stop at Guardalavaca beach.

After your stay in Holguin, the cruise will continue to the capital of the country.

On February 8, the luxury cruise ship Club Med 2, flying the French flag, arrived at the port of Havana. Belonging to the Club Med consortium and specialized in vacations with the All-Inclusive modality, high-end and focused on families and couples, she was the third cruise ship that arrived in Cuba in the current high tourism season.

The arrival of cruise ships is one of the hopes of the Cuban regime for the recovery of the tourism sector. Regarding the arrival of tourists, 2023 began with figures far removed from those expected by the island’s top brass, who this year aspire to the ambitious goal receiving 3.5 million foreign visitors.

Of the 2.5 million tourists that the Cuban government expected to arrive in 2022, Cuba only received 1,614,087 visitors. Of these, 1,585,712 entered the country by air, while the rest were yachtsmen and cruise passengers.
