The comptroller Gerardo Solís rendered accounts this Wednesday, before the plenary session of the National Assembly in which he threw flowers to his administration, defended the increase in the state payroll and assured that in most of the scandals during this government there were no “economic damages ”.
Solís began his report with criticism in the past administration, stating that he received a Comptroller’s Office that was on the verge of a “reputational crisis.”
He assured that “we have worked hard” during the pandemic in a “stoic and unacknowledged” manner.
He pointed out that in 2020 they reviewed 870,404 documents that accumulate an amount of $ 53,421 million. And in 2021 they revised 900 thousand for $ 47 billion.
On the state payroll, he indicated that his administration increased 4% in people and 13% in money. He projected that at the end of his term the increase will be 9% and 26%. He said that in Federico Humbert’s administration, in five years the payroll increased 17% in people and 61% in money.
Regarding the scandals during the government of Laurentino Cortizo, he indicated that most of them did not register “economic damages” because they were not endorsed.
Among the cases, he mentioned: the purchase of school uniforms by Meduca, the Naviferias hams, the purchase of laptops for the MEF, the purchase of masks for the National Assembly, the rental of equipment for the Cleaning Authority, the purchase of fans. lungs, robotics for the warehouse of the Social Security Fund, the audit of shelters, the Fatty of the Zodiac in April, the case with the Procurator of the Administration, also the construction of the Modular Hospital, the autonomy of local governments and the compliance audits of Panamá Ports Company and Panamá Colón Container Ports.
