Gerall Chávez on the situation in Nicaragua: ‘There is no will of the government of Daniel Ortega to get out of the crisis’

He declared that Ortega controls the military and the police, and also keeps the main leaders of the opposition imprisoned, whom he classifies as “treacherous.”

The journalist and co-founder of Nicaragua Actual, Gerall Chávez, spoke this Thursday on Radio Panama about the political situation in his country, assuring that there is no will from the government of President Daniel Ortega to get out of the crisis and there is no independence from the powers of the Condition.

He declared that Ortega controls the military and the police, and also keeps the main leaders of the opposition imprisoned, whom he classifies as “treacherous.”

He asserted that international pressure is what the Nicaraguan opposition is waiting for. “Right now in Nicaragua there is no time when the opposition can converge and make a statement. Something unusual is that Daniel Ortega, who is the head of state, has not yet been sanctioned. Ortega’s children have been sanctioned, there is talk to expel Nicaragua from the FTA,” said the communicator.
