Mea culpa. George Forsyth, candidate of Somos Perú for mayor of Lima in the 2022 regional and municipal electionsreferred to his decision to have left the Municipality of La Victoria to run —unsuccessfully— for the presidency of the Republic in the past general election 2021.
During his tour of Manchay as part of his campaign, George Forsyth mentioned that a person “learns from his mistakes” and that the passing of the years in politics made him “mature a lot.”
“One learns a lot from the past. Of the decisions that perhaps were not correct, but only those who dare to fight make mistakes. You have to be thankful for the steps you take in life because they make you a better person. With my 40 years I have matured a lot and I have the preparation and experience. I am still a councilor and mayor of a highly complex district”, he declared to the press.
In that sense, the former mayor of La Victoria stressed that “he knows the municipal issue from top to bottom”so he considered himself ready to take on the Municipality of Lima in the period 2022-2026.
“I think that life gave me a great learning path that today makes me a mature person and prepared to govern Lima. One learns from their mistakes more than from their virtues”, he asserted.
George Forsyth questions Pedro Castillo and Congress
at another time, George Forsyth described the government of the president, Pedro Castillo, as “mediocre”noting that along with the Congress they do “a lousy job” to find the solutions that are needed in the country.
“Today there is a total disapproval of the Executive. We do not agree, they are working in a rather mediocre way and on top of that with quite serious cases of corruption. not only them, also the legislature. (Both) are doing a lousy job”, he expressed.
On the other hand, he referred to the constitutional actions announced by Parliament to try to get out of the political crisis in Peruas a possible early elections or a new motion presidential vacancy.
“The important thing is that we always protect our Constitution, since that is why congressmen have been elected. Then, that solutions be made within the framework of the Constitution, which is the umbrella that protects us”, he finished.
