Geological security of San Agustín raised with cable-stayed screen

In the Caracas community of La Charneca, San Agustín parish, a cable-stayed screen is being built to improve infrastructure and security in vulnerable areas of the city. The head of the Government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, traveled to the area to inspect the progress of the work.

During his visit, Fernández highlighted the importance of this construction for the protection of the inhabitants of La Charneca against possible landslides and other geological risks. “We are committed to the well-being of our people and this work is a fundamental step to guarantee their safety,” said the head of Government.

The cable-stayed screen, which is in an advanced stage, will stabilize the ground to prevent landslides, especially in times of heavy rain. Fernández explained that these types of structures are essential to mitigate the effects of climate change and protect the most exposed communities.

The head of Government also took advantage of the occasion to speak with the residents of La Charneca, who expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the local government to improve living conditions in the parish. “It is a relief to know that concrete measures are being taken to protect our homes and our families,” commented one resident of the area.
