The controversy continues to grow every time for what generated a series of messages left by Army General Eduardo Enrique Zapateiro against the presidential candidate Gustavo Petro, after he questioned the promotions of the institution, after an attack in the department of Antioquia, which left two soldiers injured.
Many reactions from different political sectors have been made, especially from the militants of the left, where some have called for the resignation of the general who has been serving in the Army for more than thirty years, since they insist that Zapateiro he is dabbling in politics; something that is prohibited within the Political Constitution of Colombia.
Therefore, the The Attorney General’s Office will open a preliminary investigation against General Zapateiroin which it will be determined whether or not there was a direct participation in politics.
Given this, the senator for Human Colombia, Gustavo Bolívar, sent a scathing attack against the general through his Twitter account in which he asked the following question: “Are you on the payroll of the Army, which all Colombians pay, or are you on the payroll of the Democratic Center? Later, he continued his message asserting that “The politicization of our Armed Forces is unacceptable, but more dangerous,” he concluded.
