President Gustavo Petro continues to make adjustments in his government team. It should be remembered that on February 4, 2025, during a Council of Ministers transmitted on television and on the social networks of the Presidency of the Republic, the president requested the protocol resignation of all the ministers and directors of administrative departments.
As he said through his account on social network X, these changes seek to strengthen their team to guarantee compliance with the government program.
As part of this restructuring, Petro formalized the possession of two new ministers in his cabinet. Antonio Sanguino assumed as the new Minister of Labor, while María Fernanda Rojas was appointed as Minister of Transportation. Both officials are integrated into the government team with the mission of giving continuity to policies and projects in their respective portfolios.
General Pedro Sánchez will be the new Colombian Defense Minister
More recently, on the afternoon of February 19, the president announced another key appointment in his administration. General Pedro Sánchez was appointed as the new Minister of Defense, replacing Iván Velásquez, who presented his resignation last week.
Sánchez, recognized for his leadership in the successful «Operation Esperanza», in which he achieved the rescue of the mucutuy brothers after remaining lost in the Guaviare jungle.
“I have talked to the dome that remains in its reflection, be it General Pedro Sánchez,” Petro said in the framework of the Governors Summit held in Villa de Leyva, Boyacá.
