Judge Yanibet Rivas ratified this Monday the preventive detention that weighs against General Juan Carlos Robiou Towerswho is one of the defendants in the case Coral.

The accused requested the magistrate of the Sixth Investigating Court of the National District to change the measure of coercion for a less burdensome one, however, the judge rejected this request and confirmed the preventive detention.

Since last December, the former director of the Specialized Body for Tourist Security (Cestur) He is being held, along with other defendants, at the Najayo-Men Correction and Rehabilitation Center in San Cristóbal.

Leaving the courtroom, the anti-corruption prosecutor Mirna Ortiz said that the judge maintained the preventive detention since there are no new budgets that would vary the measure of coercion.

“Furthermore, the deposit of the accusation, far from favoring, further increases the danger of escape and the possibility that the process will not be known when the process is released,” said the Litigation coordinator of the Specialized Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepka).

Torres Robiou is accused of integrating a network that allegedly defrauded the Dominican State of more than 4,000 million pesos, diverting funds from the Presidential Security Corps (Cusep), the Specialized Tourist Security Corps (Cestur) and the National Council for Children and Adolescence (Conani).

Along with this, 29 more people and 18 companies are accused of administrative corruption. Among the accused are Major General Adán Cáceres Silvestre, Rossy Guzmán Sánchez (La Pastora), police corporal Tanner Antonio Flete Guzmán (son of the nun), police colonel Rafael Núñez de Aza and Navy sergeant Alejandro José Montero Cruz. , as well as Army Major Raúl Alejandro Girón Jiménez.

Also, Boanerges Reyes Batista and Julio Camilo de los Santos Viola as well as the ARD ship captain Franklin Mata Flores and José Manuel Rosario Pirón.

Carlos Lantigua, Alfredo Pichardo, Erasmo Roger Pérez, Jehohanan Lucía Rodríguez, Yehudy Blandesmil Guzmán and Esmeralda Ortega Polanco are also implicated in the case.
