Castillo explained that within the IPG they work to increase the participation of women in different spheres (political, social, cultural, economic), they also seek to make visible and reduce gender wage differences and promote the participation of women in leadership positions.
More than 44 companies and nine organizations have joined the Gender Parity Initiative, as revealed by the head of the Ministry of Social Development, María Inés Castillo, highlighting the importance of this public-private partnership to close gender economic gaps .
Castillo explained that within the IPG they work to increase the participation of women in different spheres (political, social, cultural, economic), they also seek to make visible and reduce gender wage differences and promote the participation of women in leadership positions.
Castillo’s statements are given during the inauguration of the Women of Impact Regional Forum where she expressed that equality has been and will always be a priority for her from all the roles that she must exercise.
She stated that with the IPG they have been able to promote more than 130 actions, impacting thousands of women in more than 3,000 organizations nationwide. Women have benefited directly from jobs and job placement for young women in vulnerable situations.
“I take this opportunity to call on companies, regardless of their size, industry or location, to assume the commitment to adhere to the IPG, and that together we work in favor of closing the gender gap in Panama,” said the head of the social portfolio.
