The latest report from the National Administrative Department of Statistics, Dane, showed that the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, of Bogotá for the third quarter of 2022 grew 9.3% compared to the same period in 2021.

This result indicates that the city had a growth 2.3 percentage points above that of the country which reached 7.0%.
Along with this, the Dane revealed that 11 of the 12 economic activities grew in this period. Of these, the one that made the most contributions was wholesale and retail trade. After artistic activities, entertainment and recreation, and construction. All these with a contribution of 60%.
Wholesale and Retail, vehicle repair; transportation and storage and lodging and food services, continued to be the most important activity in terms of growth for Bogotá, with an annual rate of 8.9% for the third quarter of 2022. “Once again, we have a very good economic growth behavior, the city grew more than the nation for the third consecutive quarter, showing how Bogotá marks out the growth of the rest of the country, this gives us a very good estimate of how the growth of the year can close. In addition, all economic activities are already exceeding the growth that was before the pandemic”, explained Alfredo Bateman, Secretary of Economic Development.
These results show that the city has already recovered the levels registered in the same period in 2019, pre-pandemic year, with a recovery of 113.9%. Likewise, 10 of the 12 economic activities reached or exceeded the value-added levels of 2019.
