The Gaucho Football Federation (FGF) confirmed a new date for the Gre-Nal valid for the 9th round of the 2022 Gaucho Championship. The classic is scheduled for March 9, Wednesday, at 7 pm, in Beira-Rio. According to the FGF, the new date was set after conversations with the clubs involved and the company that holds the broadcasting rights for the competition.
The 10th round of Gauchão is maintained for March 5th and 6th, according to the original schedule and broadcast grid, as well as the final round of the qualifying phase, scheduled for the 12th.
The match between Internacional and Grêmio was initially scheduled for 7 pm on Saturday (26), but it was not held because of an attack on the Tricolor delegation’s bus. The attack took place just over an hour before the ball rolled in Beira-Rio. Grêmio decided not to take the field and Inter agreed.
Grêmio midfielder Mathias Villasanti was hit in the face by a stone thrown at the bus. He had to spend the night at Moinhos de Vento hospital after tests showed head trauma and brain concussion. In addition, he had bruises on his face and a trauma to his hip. Villasanti was re-evaluated on Sunday morning by the Grêmio doctor, Márcio Dornelles, and by the hospital team. According to the club, the athlete is already at home and will be monitored.
Grêmio thanked the messages of support received from entities, personalities, fans and other clubs. Tricolor also repudiated another case of violence that took place on Saturday: the bus with the FC Cascavel delegation was stoned outside the Willie Davies stadium, in Maringá (PR), after the game against the home team for the Campeonato Paranaense.
