The head of the National Convention of the Radical Civic Union (UCR), Gastón Manes, said on Monday that this party has “the best candidates” for the 2023 presidential elections and considered that this force will define its alliance policy “on the basis of of a program and not by names, marketing or surveys.
Manes, who last Friday was consecrated at the head of the National Convention of radicalismone of the two party leadership bodies in addition to the National Committee, also said that he does not believe that it is possible to converge with Javier Milei’s libertarians because go “difficult” that “someone who has extreme positions coincides with the positions of radicalism”.
Gastón Manes, brother of the national deputy and potential presidential candidate Facundo Manes, stated when speaking to La Red radio that, after the convention, radicalism will focus on “putting together a government program and a programmatic agreement, so that when next year alliance policies are defined based on that programmatic agreement and not by people, surveys or marketing”.
After affirming that the Government of Alberto Fernández “is very deteriorated”, Manes evaluated that it is the “obligation” of his space “to offer the electorate an offer based on ideas and not on people.”
In this sense, when asked about who would be the candidate for governor of radicalism for the province of Buenos Airespointed out that “the UCR has 32 mayors (in that district) and potentially has 32” applicants.
“The UCR is going to present a candidate in all districts and categories”indicated the new president of the Convention, and was convinced that “the best” applicants are in the UCR.
“Excuse me the engineer (Mauricio) Macri, but the best candidates are in the UCR. Radicalism has shown that it has opened up, incorporated new figures and is the space that showed the most openness and the most change,” he argued.
So far, in the fight for the presidential candidacy of the UCR, Facundo Manes and the governor of Jujuy and head of the UCR, Gerardo Morales, are listed.
