Like every Friday, the SHCP specified in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) that the stimulus for the IEPS will be 5.49 pesos per liter of Magna gasoline; 4.63 pesos per liter of Premium gasoline, and 6.03 per liter of diesel.
The quota for this week for complementary stimuli to refiners and importers will be 5.08 pesos per liter of Magna; 5.02 pesos for Premium gasoline, and 3.39 pesos per liter of diesel.
The invasion of Ukraine has unleashed a wave of rises in raw materials around the world, such as oil, and this has increased the price of gasoline.
When the price of gasoline rises in the United States, which is where most of the gasoline consumed in Mexico comes from, the government grants these stimuli to amortize the price increases.
This mechanism has been active throughout the current federal administration, with the aim that gasoline prices do not rise above general inflation.
Granting these subsidies represents a fiscal expense for the Treasury, that is, less money is collected from the federal IEPS for gasoline.
It is expected that this year around 400,000 million pesos will be lost from the treasury due to IEPS subsidies, and the additional stimuli that began to be given in March of this year, according to the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
