Conceived to regulate the prices of the gas market and the recurrent increases of the distributors, the company Gas del Bienestar is on pause
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador admitted. However, he considered that the objective was achieved because since its creation, prices stabilized and there was even a slightly downward trend.
During his conference, he mentioned that the Youth Building the Future program already reaches 2.4 million with a high percentage of them who, after their training, are hired. López Obrador stated that this policy has been oriented towards two central objectives: those regions where there is a higher level of violence and, secondly, where poverty is more entrenched. Of course, it is an investment, not an expense, of 20 billion pesos, it is what the INE spends, only here it is for 2 million 400 thousand people. In reference to Gas del Bienestar, he did not elaborate on the situation faced by the company, highlighting that the decision that was adopted fulfilled the objective. However, he said that the service he provides is acceptable because he pays less for the 20-kilogram cylinder, which is what the popular sectors buy.
In this sense, he said that the effectiveness of State intervention in certain circumstances was demonstrated, in this case, to control price increases. He assured that the neoliberals are opposed to this government participation, because they would like the State to disappear in these matters and that everything be left to the market. The Gas Bienestar project, he added, has been tested and, where appropriate, can be expanded.
