More than five million families across the country will begin receiving Gas Aid this Monday (20).
The benefit, worth R$108, is paid twice each semester and follows the Bolsa Família calendar.
The first to receive are beneficiaries who have the NIS, Social Identification Number, with the final digit 1.
The payment schedule continues until October 31st, when beneficiaries with final NIS 0 receive.
This month, the investment by the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger is just over R$542 million.
Gas Aid was created to alleviate the impact of the price of cooking gas on the domestic budget of vulnerable households.
The amount paid to beneficiaries corresponds to 100% of the 13-kilo cylinder.

In September, the federal government launched the Gás do Povo programwhich will gradually replace Gas Aid.
Instead of the cash benefit, families will collect gas cylinder refills from accredited retailers.
The new program is expected to triple the number of beneficiaries, reaching around 15 million families.
