Gary Oldman, one of the most prestigious and recognized contemporary actors, announced that he is about to retire. Although he did not set a date, the second season of Slow Horses may be his last project.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Oldman commented: “I’ve had an enviable career, but careers go down and I have other things that interest me besides acting. When you’re young, you think you’re going to be able to do it all, read that book, then the years go by. I am 64 years old. The 70’s is just around the corner. I don’t want to be active when I’m 80 years old. I would feel very happy, honored and privileged to say goodbye as Jackson Lamb (his character in Slow Horses), and then retire.”
Gary Oldman participated in more than 100 productions. Sid and Nancy, JFK, Beloved Immortal, draculaby Bram Stoker, Romeo Is Bleeding, Léon, The Fifth Element, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Batman Begins, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Dark Knight, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Dark Knight Rises, Darkest Hour and Mank; are the most prominent.
throughout his career received, among other awards, three BAFTAs a Saturn Award, a Golden Globe and an Oscar for best actor for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
But it seems that the actor decided to put an end to his prolific acting life, after the end of Slow Horses.
