Gang issue comes to the fore again in Metro Line 3 contracts

Judith Pena | March 7, 2023

A confusing incident between workers and apparently applicants to enter Line 3 of the Panama Metro once again brought to light the alleged presence of gangs in these constructions and the alleged payment to be able to enter the payroll of this mega project.

In the video originally published on the TikTok social network, the comments did not wait and stated that in effect, in order to be part of the group of workers of the Panama Metro, a requirement is “to have a police record” “to be close to a gang” “to know some gang member»; among other opinions.

They also commented that another requirement is the payment of up to $50 per fortnight to be able to keep the job.

The Panama Metro has already communicated on other occasions that none of these statements are true and that they work together with the National Police to prevent the presence of organized crime within their projects.
