The senator from the For the Homeland sector of the National Party, Jorge Gandini, seeks to unify groups and leaders to lead a “Wilsonist” presidential candidacy for the interns of his party.
“Convinced that the Party has to offer an option that does not respond to the hegemony of the majority, we began to consult the possibility of having our own candidacy,” Gandini said at a press conference about his recent visit to speak with leaders of his sector For La Patria “We visited four or five departments during Tourism Week and now we are going to another eight, to find out how many soldiers we have for this battle,” he added.
According to the senator, “before the end of the month we have to have an answer” Of these leaders that Gandini is consulting for a candidacy that competes with the options that are already on the table, those of the Secretary of the Presidency Álvaro Delgado and the president of the Department of Montevideo, Laura Raffo.
“The party outlines two candidacies belonging to Herrerismo“, the senator said about the possible candidacies of Delgado and Raffo and added: “We must give an option that does not respond to the partisan majority.”
“Our path is to know if we are important enough in size and content to give an alternative battle to these two options. I resist the fact that the whole party is a Herrerista. And so if I resist this, I am not going to enter blacksmithing no matter how comfortable it may be for me ”, he affirmed.
“Those of us who are in the current of Wilsonism have no one to vote for, that space is empty, it must be filled,” he said, adding that the Wilsonists “cannot participate in Herrerista candidacies”.
