Dr. Jorge Gamboa Arosemena made an analysis on Radio Panama about the Cambio Democrático (CD) primary elections where Rómulo Roux managed to win with 52% of the votes counted, against the 46% obtained by Yanibel Ábrego.
«The internal contention of CD leaves us with a highly divided party and without a sense of belonging because 50% of the membership did not reach the polls despite the fact that when there is a dispute as bitter as the one that occurred between Mrs. Ábrego and the Mr. Roux, normally the human being tends to take a position and is motivated to go to vote”, pointed out Gamboa Arosemena.
On whether the deputies who supported Ábrego did not give him that decisive support in these primary elections, Gamboa Arosemena considered that “They definitely did not notice, what’s more, the one who had to carry the dead was Ricardo Martinelli himself who accompanied Mrs. Ábrego to vote, because even though he came out to support her, I couldn’t get him to climb the hill, for me the winner was not Rómulo, but Ricardo Martinelli lost, who could not show that muscle that he claims to have in the polls.
