Regarding the appointment of Hugo Velázquez, the Colorado senator, Juan Carlos Galaverna, indicated that he has nothing to celebrate. It is not at all pleasant that as a Paraguayan citizen he is aware of every press conference of the United States Embassy in the country.

He pointed out that legally this designation will have no consequences because there is no legislation that states that the fact of being declared significantly corrupt persons by the US government or by the government of any other country in the world implies inability to compete for an electoral position.
