The Bolivian soccer team completed its third day of work this Sunday in the city of La Paz, preparing for its next qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, which will be against Ecuador and Paraguay.
On this third day of training, La Verde practiced at the Rafael Mendoza stadium, owned by The Strongest club, in the Achumani area, where one of the players who spoke to the media, in the mixed zone, was Gabriel Sotomayor.
“Very good, very happy to be here and for this opportunity. We are going to make the most of it… We are training with the ball, I feel very good and I am going to work to earn an opportunity,” said Sotomayor.
The 25-year-old striker plays for The Strongest and was called to the senior team for the first time by coach Óscar Villegas. Sotomayor and Gustavo Mendoza from San Antonio were the last summoned to the Green.
“It (the call) is very important, I have been working very well in my team, I have been training in the best way and helping the team. “This is a great opportunity for me to make the most of it,” he added.
Bolivia’s first match in this double qualifying date will be against Ecuador, on Thursday, November 14 (8:00 p.m.), at the Pichincha stadium in the city of Guayaquil; Later, he will receive a visit from Paraguay, on Tuesday, November 19, at the Villa Ingenio Municipal Stadium in El Alto.
“They are very complicated games that we will surely watch videos of. We have to prepare for what is coming,” said the brindle attacker.
He acknowledged that there is a difference in the work he does in his club compared to what he does in the national team.
“It is always different, there is a lot of intensity, yesterday I did it for the first time and you felt the intensity, the handling of the ball and we are going to have to improve that,” explained Gabriel Sotomayor before Sunday work.
The forward hopes to have his opportunity in the Green, especially now that the player who occupies the starting position in his position is suspended, it is Carmelo Algarañaz who accumulated his second yellow card in the match against Argentina and was automatically suspended for a date .
