The president of Antel, Gabriel Gurmendez, was summoned to testify this Friday at 2:00 p.m. in witness quality for costs that represented the construction of the Antel Arena, reported sources from the state company.
Gurméndez, who filed a criminal complaint after learning the results of an audit that determined that the cost was US$ 120 million, requested that alleged irregularities in the construction of the complex be investigated.
The audit concluded that the The work cost US$ 118 million, almost triple what it had detailed the then president of Antel in 2014, Carolina Cosse, when the complex began to be built.
The audit also confirmed that “88.6% of the purchases (for a total of US$ 96.1 million) were directly in which at least two potential suppliers were invited to quote.”
In the case there are three ex-hierarchs investigated. As reported The Observer, contradictions arise in the testimonies of these people. The former president of Antel Andrés Tolosa informed Parliament in 2018 that the cost of the work was US$ 1,787 per square meter. For his part, the former general manager of Antel, JAvier Emicuri, maintained that the cost was calculated per seat. During the investigation, it was not clear what criteria were used.
