The National Association of Fiscal Employees ANEF, held a ceremony at the General Cemetery in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the murder during the dictatorship of the union leader Tucapel Jiménez, leader of Anef who was kidnapped on February 25, 1982 and found dead hours later inside of a taxi in the commune of Lampa.
The future ministers Carlos Montes of Public Works; Jeannette Jara of Work; Maya Fernández of Defense and the President-elect, Gabriel Boric, who is on vacation on the island of Juan Fernández, sent a heartfelt message at the ceremony.
“From the new Government we tell you that your legacy is still present to defend the rights of workers but also to continue fighting for the unity of the Chilean people in the conquests of greater democracy, greater equality and greater freedom”, said the future President .
Greeting in the official instance:
The singer-songwriter Manuel García and the granddaughter of the guild’s “martyr” also participated in the ceremony. In addition, the ANEF paid tribute to the “worker victims of State terrorism in dictatorship”
Boric emphasized that he would have “loved” to participate in the commemoration. “From here go all my respect for this story that we do not want to repeat,” he said.
