The head of the Government of Chile, Gabriel Boriccompleted, this Tuesday, his two-day visit to Argentine soil with a tribute to the victims of the military dictatorship by Jorge Rafael Videla (1976/1983). In the company of Alberto Fernandez, President Gabriel Boric toured this morning the emblematic Site of Memory Museum Esma, where a clandestine detention center used to operate, which was the scene of terrible crimes against humanity and human rights violations. H H. of the Argentine people.
During the activity, Gabriel Boric spoke with representatives of different pro-DD organizations. H H. of Argentina on the promotion, protection and defense of the fundamental rights of the Latin American peoples and recognized the progress made by both governments (Chile and Argentina) in this matter.
The presidential delegation also met with the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo and Mothers of the Founding Linewho gave him Gabriel Boric the characteristic white scarf that symbolizes the struggle for peace, truth and justice that, for decades, the survivors of the dictatorship have defended.
Also present on the tour were the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Justice and Human Rights, Santiago Cafiero and Martín Soria; the secretaries of the Presidency and Human Rights of the Nation, Horacio Pietragalla Corti and Julio Vitobello; and the director of the Esma Museum, María Marcela Gorosito.
On behalf of the Chilean delegation, the chancellor of the Republic of Chile, Antonia Urrejola; the Ministers of Culture, Art and Heritage and of National Defense, Julieta Brodsky and Maya Fernández Allende; and the Chilean ambassador to Argentina, Bárbara Figueroa.
Boric urges to strengthen bilateral relations with Argentina
On the first day of his visit to the country, Chilean head of state urged Argentine businessmen to “strengthen the economic and commercial link with Chile” and recognized that his trip focused on “strengthening bilateral relations between both States”.
“Now we have the possibility of starting a new cycle of bilateral collaboration between our governments, but we have to be careful and work according to our needs,” the president emphasized. While he claimed that “in recent months, the commercial exchange between Chile and Argentina has increased considerably”.
