In a statement, the Ministry of Defense informed that a force of 9 thousand men will work in the GLO operation during the G20 Leaders’ Summit, which will take place next Monday (18) and Tuesday (19), in Rio de Janeiro. January.

Military personnel from the Navy, Army and Brazilian Air Force (FAB) will work to secure the delegations on the external perimeter of the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), the Marina da Glória, the Monument to Estácio de Sá and the places where delegations of the heads of state.

Investigation

At a press conference, the director general of the Federal Police (PF), Andrei Passos Rodrigues, said that the explosions do not represent an “isolated fact” and that the anti-terrorism investigation unit was called in to assist in the work.

“All of this indicates that these extremist groups are active and need us to act vigorously,” he said.

Passos ordered the opening of a police investigation and the referral of the case to the STF in view of the hypotheses of acts that undermine the Democratic Rule of Law and terrorist acts. “We are treating these cases under these two aspects and, therefore, our anti-terrorism unit is acting directly.”
