The new Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Lucía Etcheverry, announced all those that will integrate the different distributions of that portfolio as of March 1.
The new minister, who was deputy by Canelones in the 2020-2025 period and elected senator for this legislature that begins on February 15, is a social worker, graduated from the University of the Republic. She was a general director of works of the Intendencia de Canelones, leading key infrastructure and urban development projects. He also held the position of National Housing Director of the commune and previously served as a deputy manager and then as a technical manager of the Irregular settlement integration program.
As Undersecretary, Etcheverry designated Claudia Peris, Architect graduated from the University of the Republic, with “experience in the management and execution of urban infrastructure projects and roads in the Intendencia de Canelones.” The Ministry of Business Administration, Yenny Merlo will be general director of the Secretariat. Previously, she was a general coordinator of the Office of Planning and Budget (OPP), and also a technical advisor of the OPP Management. “It has experience in public institutions such as the National Public Education Administration (ANEP), the National Post Office, and the National Development Corporation.”
Felipe Martín will be appointed as the National Director of Transportation, “Position he already had during the governments of the Broad Front between 2010 and 2020. Previously, he worked as a transport advisor (2005-2010) and as director of Transit and Transportation of Montevideo (1995-2005)”
The national director of rail transport, will be Waverley Tejera, University Technician in Administration from the Udelar, “Diploma in rail transport by the National University of Lanús (Argentina), who in turn has specializations in logistics and supply chains, as well as in planning and evaluation of public policies. He was National Director of Railway Transportation between 2018 and 2020 and an advisor to the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works ”.
The engineer Federico Magone will occupy the National Road Directorate. “He is a civil engineer with transportation profile and communication channels, graduated from the University of the Republic. He is also a specialist in Policy and Transportation Planning from the National University of San Martín (Argentina), with additional training in strategic planning and development project management. At present, he is responsible for the Rural Planning Program of the Office of Planning and Budget of the Presidency of the Republic. In addition, he served as a consultant in road projects, transport, mobility and waste management. In the public sector, he worked in evaluation and monitoring of infrastructure projects, and has developed territorial planning programs and coordinated investment programs ”.
The national director of Architecture will be Martín Tierno, who is “Deputy for Durazno since 2010. He presided over commissions such as Transport, Communication and Public Works (2017, 2019, 2021) and Labor Legislation (2012)”
Mr. Carlos Colacce will be the “National Director of Hydrography. He is a civil engineer, graduated from the University of the Republic. He was an advisor to the Environmental Development Department of the Municipality of Montevideo, and held the position of National Secretary of Environment, Water and Climate Change. In turn, he was director of the Uruguay SA Road Corporation, promoting key road infrastructure projects. He held twice the Presidency of Sanitary Works of the State (OSE) and was also Minister of Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment between 2008 and 2010. In parallel, he was professor Grade 4 of the Institute of Structures of the Faculty of Engineering (1987-2022) ”
The National Director of Topography will be the ARQ. Felipe de los Santos Moreira, Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of the Republic. He currently attends a master’s degree in public policies at the East Regional University Center and works as an architect in the General Directorate of Architecture of the Udelar. He was a teacher in educational institutions in Lavalleja and has participated in volunteer and international cooperation projects. ”
The President of the National Port Administration (ANP), “It will be Ing. Pablo Mario GenaCivil Engineer for the Udelar, with specialization in structures. It has a postgraduate degree in Transportation Planning and Economics from the National University of Córdoba (Argentina), and studied a specialization program, validation and management at Harvard University. As for the labor, he held the position of National Director of Planning and Logistics between 2015 and 2020 and was Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works in the 2010-2015 period. In turn, he was general manager of the Railway Corporation of Uruguay (2009-2010); National Transport Director (2005-2009); and technical coordinator of the Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Planning ”.
Alejandra Koch will be the vice president of the ANP. “He has 42 years of experience in the public function and is a specialist in Port Administration and Public Management. He entered the ANP in 1982 and has occupied various hierarchical positions, standing out as a sub -grain of the National Ports System and Head of Division of Material Resources and Services. Since 2020, it represents the Broad Front as Vocal Director of ANP. ”
