According to what was agreed for the bilateral sessions, this Thursday the meeting between Baldo Prokurica, Minister of Defense and his successor in office, the current deputy, Maya Fernández, was held to agree on the transfer and portfolio information. After the instance, the parliamentarian supported the criticized nomination of the future undersecretary of the Armed Forces, Galo Eidelstein, who stated that he has nothing to defend and that at the time he will clarify the summons they make for his appointment.
The future defense minister maintained that one of the meeting’s priority issues was the covid-19 pandemic and how to support all that this implies for Armed Forces personnel. However, regarding the extension of the State of Exception in the South Macrozone, he did not want to comment, since he pointed out that it is not up to him to say anything now out of respect for the current president and also for the President-elect, and that after March 11 he could speak about the topic. Of course, she indicated that the votes in the Chamber of Deputies be reviewed to see what the response to the State of Exception is.
On the other hand, the parliamentarian defended the next undersecretary for the Armed Forces, Galo Eidelstein, “first I am not going to refer to someone who is next to me. The undersecretary deserves all my respect, he has a track record, he has a resume, and in that I respect the decision of the next President of the Republic, ”said Fernández.
Meanwhile, the future undersecretary for the Armed Forces, Galo Eidelstein, who was also at the hearing, stated that he has nothing to defend and that “The time will come to clarify” the locations they carry out after their designation.
While for his part, the deputy of the UDI, Juan Antonio Coloma, who intends to lead an audit, also referred to this fact, pointing out that “it seems worrying to us that the future Minister of Defense makes a corporate defense, of who was one of the people who played a fundamental role in the Arcis University (…) Our first inspection action will be a special session to deal with this issue”.
