Furukawa reports 400 million dollars in sales to Latin America during 2021

The telecommunications equipment manufacturer Furukawa indicated that it had achieved sales of 400 million dollars to companies in that sector in Latin America during its 2021 financial year and despite still facing the negative impacts left by the coronavirus pandemic throughout the value chain. of telecommunications.

The health emergency forced confinement in homes and this brought with it remote work and teaching, as well as other activities, which also increased the demand for components manufactured by companies in the Furukawa industry.

In this way, the company managed to increase its sales by 32% in that year, according to a statement.

Among the negative impacts caused by the health emergency, Furukawa stated that the large suppliers of supplies redirected their products to mature markets, with which they increased their prices in other latitudes.

Furukawa also indicated that during the most complicated days of the pandemic, the prices of transcontinental freight for components increased from $1,300 to $8,600 in the case of moving 40-foot containers.

“Faced with these challenges, the strength of Furukawa Electric lies in its consolidated presence as a regional player, with a business focused on Latin America and with the capacity to serve any market in the region, through our eight production plants distributed in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina”, said Fernando Zanetti, General Sales Manager Furukawa Electric LatAm.
