One more year, Fundación Telefónica Movistar participated in the “Summer Schools” program of the General Directorate of Initial and Primary Education (DGEIP). Through Profuturo, its Education program, it was part of this initiative with proposals for Computational Thinking and Robotics.
More than 1,650 children who attended the program in schools in Canelones, Colonia, Maldonado, Montevideo, Lavalleja and Treinta y Tres, were able to access the ProFuturo proposal to learn about Computational Thinking and managing emotions.
Telefónica Movistar volunteers accompanied activities in different schools giving support to the team. It was possible to visit more than 100 educational centers in the six departments of the country that are planned.
“One more year we adhere to this program of the General Directorate of Initial and Primary Education, reinforcing the link, in order to give support to this program that seeks to give boys and girls from all over the country a different proposal for their vacations . At ProFuturo, our objective is to work towards the gap and educational improvements, so participating in these activities makes sense for our purpose”, commented María Noel Orellano, manager of Fundación Telefónica Movistar.
ProFuturo is the Education program of Fundación Telefónica Movistar and Fundación “la Caixa”. In Uruguay, it provides training to more than 9,000 teachers and 14,000 students from all over the country in computational thinking, programming, robotics, inclusion of technology and digital tools, attention to educational diversity, cyberbullying, escape room, gamification, among others.. The virtual teacher training courses are certified by the Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
