FUL leaders promise renewal after the election of the rector in Tarija

The leadership of the Local University Federation (FUL) committed to its bases to carry out the renewal after the election of the rector of the Autonomous University Juan Misael Saracho (Uajms) of Tarija.

The executive secretary of that organization, Mario Alberto Quispe, stated that they are willing to call internal elections in accordance with the university students.

“On Monday the University Council will meet to discuss the issue of the election of the rector and once it is done we will face the renewal of the FUL. If the elections are not held, we are going to have problems and that is what we want to avoid.”Quispe declared to EL DEBER.

The leader spoke about the issue after mobilizations of students from some Uajms careers that demand the resignation and election of new leaders in the Student Centers and the Local University Federation.

Likewise, he referred to the need to discuss the incorporation of changes in the Organic Statute in order to set a limit for the student to graduate and not stay for more than 10 years.

Quispe mentioned that although the right to study cannot be curtailed, in the Uajms there are some cases and that a reformulation is urgently needed in this regard.

“We have the university student Juan Martínez who has been there for more than 12 years. Every year the only thing he does is enroll, program subjects and he dedicates himself to harming and talking, he does not study,” said the leader.

The issue must be addressed in an Extended University Council to be convened in advance, but at the Juan Misael Saracho University the election of the rector and vice-chancellor is prioritized, which could not be carried out in September 2021 due to the fact that the candidates did not achieve 40%. vote in teachers and students in the second round.
