Fugitive Vladimir Cerrón registers as a presidential candidate for Peru Libre

The registration period for political parties ends this December 23. This time, the fugitive Vladimir Cerron He registered as a presidential candidate for Peru Libre, within the framework of the 2026 Elections. He is accompanied as first vice president by the congressman and current Perulibrist spokesperson, Flavio Cruz Mamani. Bertha Rojas López is in the second vice presidency.

It is highlighted that as a replacement for the first and second vice presidents is Waldemar Cerron and Ana Córdova Capuchofounder of the pencil party and who currently works as an advisor to the Board of Directors.

Hours before Cerrón manages to register, the Judiciary scheduled for January 13, 2026, a hearing that will evaluate expanding its investigation for the alleged crime of illegal financing of political campaigns during the years 2008 and 2021.

On December 4, the Sixth National Preparatory Investigation Court declared unfounded the request by Cerrón’s defense to vary the mandate of preventive detention for 24 months with restrictions. In this regard, on December 11, the fugitive’s defense filed an appeal before the Third National Criminal Court of Appeals, which must evaluate whether to admit it for processing.
