The Fuerza Popular party will vote in favor of the vacancy against President Dina Boluarte. The measure was communicated through a statement from the group that leads Keiko Fujimori.
The document specifies that the government “has not taken effective measures against crime despite having had legislative powers.”
“Peru cannot continue to be mired in insecurity and lack of leadership. Even if there is little time left to conclude his mandate, we cannot allow even one more victim,” he emphasizes.
In this sense, Fuerza Popular announced that it will vote in favor of the presidential vacancy “convinced that it is a necessary measure to begin a new stage of governability, order and hope for all Peruvians.”
In this context, he pointed out that the orange group “will not aspire to preside over either Congress or the transitional government.”
“We ratify our commitment to dialogue and responsibility to overcome the crisis. We will grant the next government the necessary powers in terms of security to confront crime and return peace to Peruvian families,” he stressed.
Likewise, he recalled that his support for the constitutional succession that brought Dina Boluarte the presidency of the Republic, after Pedro Castillo’s coup d’état, was due to the fact that she was a member of the Peru Libre team.
“We did it out of respect for the constitutional order and to preserve stability and democracy, not because we had elected her,” he said.
