The Fuerza Popular party released a video in which its leader, Keiko Fujimoriexpressed his position against a possible censorship against José Jeríconsidering that a measure of this type would generate greater political uncertainty a few weeks before the elections.
“Peru is going through difficult times; either we allow ourselves to be dragged into chaos or we defend order. Changing a president 57 days before the elections, without conclusive facts, is pushing the country into more uncertainty,” he said.
Fujimori specified that his group questions certain actions of the president, but affirmed that his position responds to the defense of the democratic system.
“Let it be clear: we question the president’s actions, but our defense is for Peru. Fuerza Popular protects the constitutional order, not a person,” he added. Likewise, he indicated that investigations must continue to clarify the facts.
Fuerza Popular responds to Renovación Popular
In the message, the leader also launched indirect questions at the Popular Renewal party, which accused Fujimori of “endorsing corruption.”
“Today, whoever claims to represent the Renewal has become a puppet of the caviars and those who opt for permanent confrontation and push for instability,” he stated.
He added that his party will not support actions that, in its opinion, contribute to the destabilization of the country. “Regardless of the decision that you have already made, and whoever you appoint, we will not be accomplices of those who seek to destabilize the country out of political calculation,” he added.
Fujimori also rejected expressions that he considered offensive towards women and said that “Peru needs order, peace and what you lack: emotional maturity to lead.”
