Given this concern, deputies of the FP, invited engineer Juan Gómez, secretary of energy of the FP, and former superintendent of electricity, to a discussion at the facilities of the Chamber of Deputies, who served as the main panelist, in his introductory words he said that what is happening in the country is something unprecedented with these long days of blackouts that irritate the people and are bankrupting hundreds of small businessmen and entrepreneurs.
He maintained that the government neglected investments in the improvement, modernization and readjustment of the entire distribution infrastructure, which has significantly increased the sector’s losses and deficit.
He expressed his concern about non-compliance with the goals set in the “Electric Pact”, since, in 2019, losses averaged 30% and today exceed 40%, when according to the goal established in the decree No. 655-21, issued by the President of the Republic, in the loss indicator for 2024, they should have averaged 19.1%.
The former electricity superintendent questioned recent government decisions, such as purchasing rebuilt transformers instead of expediting the arrival of new transformers.
“The lack of planning and coordination among electrical sector officials is evident; The authorities must give a more convincing response than the justifications that they have communicated,” he said.

In this regard, the engineering professional pointed out that despite the long periods of blackouts, the town is receiving an electricity rate with higher amounts, when it should be the opposite, with fewer hours of energy and lower costs in the electricity supply. billingand it is quite the opposite.
Solutions
According to Gómez, among the main solutions to mitigate the long days of blackouts, the government must consider: Intensive loss reduction program, investment in infrastructure, purchases of transformers, but not rebuilt ones, and the acquisition of tools for better performance and obtaining better results.
