Fuels continue their upward wave. Regime promises to assume 70% of the increase

Through a statement, the Nicaraguan Institute of Energy (INE) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines reported that the Government of Nicaragua will assume 70 percent of the new increase in fuels that will be registered this Sunday, March 27.

The Ortega and Murillo regime also promised that it will assume 100 percent of the increase in the price of liquefied gas, which means that its current cost will continue to be frozen. This decision comes after 15 days of freezing these products.

Ortega’s decision comes after oil sources reported that the cost of gasoline (super and regular) and diesel will present an increase of 1.84 cordobas per liter, which means that by gallon they will rise 6.96 cordobas.

Based on the data provided to Article 66 by fuel distribution sources, per liter super gasolinewhich before the new increase was selling for 45.81 córdobas, will cost on average 47.65the regular that 15 days ago was being marketed to 44.63, will be sold from this Sunday 46.47 cordobas and the diesel will have a value of approximately 43.22 cordobasafter costing 41.38.

While per gallon, the Super will start to have a value of approximately 180 cordobas, the regular to 175.89 cordobasand diesel, would be purchased at 163.58 cordobas.

These new prices will be valid only for managua, since in the other departments of the country the cost of transportation and distribution is added, which means that its price will be higher, which according to economists will notoriously affect the basic basket.

Only two weeks was the government of Daniel Ortega able to keep the price of fuels frozen, however “the headache” for users returns once again.

Despite the subsidy promised by the Ortega regime for this week, the new increase that Nicaraguans will have to assume will be reflected —according to economists— in the cost of food and other basic products.

For its art, the INE and Minas continue to “promise” that they will continue to permanently monitor the behavior of international prices and the rest of the variables that make up the price of fuels and “the corresponding actions and measures will be taken to mitigate the impact of the increase of these prices in the economy of Nicaraguan families.

Ortega continues to affirm that the constant increases in oil are due to external causes, thus affecting the prices of fuels and liquefied gas, necessary for use in Nicaraguan homes and economic sectors.

Experts have reported that Russia’s armed invasion of Ukraine has caused the cost of oil to skyrocket, affecting developing countries like Nicaragua more.
