LOOK: Executive will contribute S / 4,000 million to Petroperú to avoid fuel shortages
What are the reasons for fuel shortages?
Erick García, an expert in energy and hydrocarbons, indicated that Petroperú has more than 45% of the market and has not been able to supply all its customers nationwide.
“This is because there was a restriction on his purchases, because his line of credit was cut at the time and what the State did, as a good measure, is to inject capital”, he referred to Channel N.
He added that Petroperú’s problem is the delay it had with the Talara refinery. “This affected cash flow. Already the company, with a new board of directors, announced that in December it should be operating”, he said.
He also mentioned that the credibility of the state company was hit with the previous board and credit lines were cut.
When will the fuel supply be regularized?
The specialist projected that in 20 to 30 days the fuel supply will be regularized at the national level.
“In less than a month it will not be possible to do so because the supply of fuel has logistics, such as imports, opening ships, unloading and purchases. That is why it is important that there are professionals in the hydrocarbons sector who know what the operation is like“, accurate.
Petroperu receives capital
The Executive approved a Exceptional capital contribution to Petroperú of up to S/ 4,000 million, to ensure the commercialization of hydrocarbons at the national level and maintain the continuity of the operations of the state company.
Through Emergency Decree No. 023-2022, which was published on Tuesday night in an extraordinary edition of the Legal Standards bulletin of the newspaper El Peruano, economic and financial measures were established to prevent fuel shortages at the national level.
According to the norm, this measure will be carried out through the exceptional granting of a capital contribution and a guarantee from the national government to a foreign trade credit line for the acquisition of crude oil, fuels, other hydrocarbon derivatives and biofuels.
