Fuel shortage worsens in San Fernando and Biruaca (Apure)

For fifteen days, fuel supply failures have been reported in various entities of the country, including Bolívar, Falcón, Táchira and Lara; where drivers can add up to days in line to get refueling

Extortion and long lines near the service stations located in the San Fernando and Biruaca del Apure municipalities to fill gasoline denounced this Saturday, December 10, residents of the southwestern state.

For fifteen days, fuel supply failures have been reported in various entities of the country, including Bolívar, Falcón, Táchira and Lara.

Jesús Villamizar denounced Radio Fe y Alegría News that at the La Araucana service station, on Avenida 1ro de Mayo in San Fernando, disorder and alleged corruption predominate.

“This is horrible corruption. We have been here since 2:00 in the morning, they seized 100 identification cards and we do not know how much gasoline arrived. This is horrible everywhere”, exclaimed Villamizar.

Although there is no official information regarding what happens with the fuel supply to the country’s plains, it was learned that the 15 tankers that usually travel weekly to Apure are no longer arriving.

The reason would be due to problems in the Yagua filler, in Carabobo state, which in turn is supplied from the Amuay refinery, in Falcón state.

Villamizar asked the governor of Apure, Eduardo Piñate, to send a commission “to organize this but to be serious and to remove the corruption that is what is causing anger.”

The user expressed his bewilderment because, despite having arrived very early in the morning, he was number 120 and they only collected the IDs of the first 100 people.

“Please, we are correct people and we believe that something can be done,” he said.

After a tour of the service stations in the San Fernando and Biruaca municipalities, queues could also be seen at the stations that charge fuel at international prices.

80% fuel shortage

“It is a violation of our rights that there are long lines to fill gasoline. It is unfair what 80% of the country lives to have fuel in their vehicles, “he denounced this Friday, December 9, Maria Beatriz Martinez party chairwoman justice firstduring a protest in Portuguesa.

“The lack of gasoline in more than 80% of the states is a sign of the disaster of those who have been in power for more than 20 years with failed policies and declaring sentence to Venezuelans, Nicolás Maduro destroyed PDVSA,” he said.

The justice leader recalled that “during the week we have seen long gasoline lines due to the breakdown in Amuay, but what is in the background is an oil industry that was destroyed and has no way to maintain itself. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world, and has experienced a chronic shortage of gasoline since 2014 due to factors such as: disinvestment, lack of maintenance of refineries, loss of national crude production, shortage of qualified technical personnel, politicization of the industry, corruption, and politically motivated retail price fixing.”
