The Vice Minister of Internal Commerce, Ramón Pérez Fermín, reported this Friday that throughout this year the government of President Luis Abinader, to keep the prices of fuels for domestic use unchanged, has allocated almost 35 billion pesos in subsidies extraordinary.

With this measure to keep it frozen, the government is avoiding increases mainly in Regular Diesel for RD$37.63 and Optimal Diesel for RD$39.53. Pérez explained that starting in the last month of 2022, the international context remains the same, the recovery of post-pandemic demand, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the adverse effects that it produces on the raw materials market.

“The Dominican government, in an exercise of solidarity and empathy with the people, once again prevents fuel increases from materializing. The commitment of our government is clear, without duplicity. Transfer to the market, within the framework of what is possible and what is economically responsible, the least amount of financial burden to the pocket of Dominicans, especially to those who can least,” said Pérez.

“Transparency is a fundamental pillar of the government of President Luis Abinader. For this reason, every Friday we share with the public the international context of the hydrocarbon market and its consequent impact on the national market,” he added.
