The volatility of the international markets has again triggered the extraordinary subsidy that the Dominican government allocates to avoid fuel increases in the country, as announced by the Vice Minister of Internal Trade, Ramon Perez Fermin who maintained that for the week of Saturday 15 to Friday 21 October there will be more than 684 million pesos to contain the increases.

He explained that the international price of WTI averaged 89.77, which represented an increase of 7.2% compared to the average of the previous week, accumulating 23.3% so far this year.

He also explained that the issues that continue to contribute to the marked volatility of the marketare still the same ones that have affected it throughout this 2022.

He recalled that the subsidies vary from 100 million in some weeksuntil 1800 in which there has been greater appreciation of the finished products in the international market.

“In view of this scenario, the Dominican government assumes a sacrifice of 684 million to prevent price increases in premium and regular gasoline of 30 pesos per gallon. The subsidy prevents regular and optimal diesel from suffering increases historical of more than 95 pesos per gallon, all this as a result of the rebound in WTI, but above all of the prices of gasoline and diesel in international markets,” said Pérez Fermín.
