The government continues with the policy of freezing fuels that began in March 2022. It ordered today that once again everyone maintain the same price that, for the most part, they have had for eight months.
“The Dominican Government assumes a sacrifice of 684 million to prevent price increases in premium and regular gasoline of 30 pesos per gallon,” said the Vice Minister of Internal Trade of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Ramón Pérez Fermín.
He explained that this extraordinary subsidy prevents regular and optimal diesel from suffering “historic increases” of more than 95 pesos per gallon, “all this as a result of the rise in WTI (Texas intermediate oil) and the values of gasoline and diesel. in international markets”.
“As of Wednesday, the international price of WTI averaged 89.77, an increase of 7.2% compared to the average of the previous week, and an accumulated increase so far this year of 23.3%,” he said when announcing the fuel prices for the next seven days, through a video posted on Twitter.
In addition, he explained that the issues that continue to pay for the marked volatility of the market remain the same that have affected it throughout this 2022. He recalled that the subsidies vary from 100 million pesos in some weeks, up to 1,800 million pesos in which there has been greater appreciation of the finished products in the international market.
